| Village Music Hour History . . . |
| |
|
|
It might seem like there's always been a Village Music Hour since the dawn of time but the reality is that it's been around only since the early 90s.
Recognizing that there was a unique audience which was not being catered for elsewhere, 4MBS commenced what was, at the time, a rather innovative program which met with a mixed reaction. Early presenters have included Gary Thorpe, Howard Ainsworth and others but, undoubtedly, the program's long serving star has been Geoffrey Turner (left) whose relaxed, friendly style and warm appeal made The Village Music Hour what it is today.
When Geoffrey retired in December 2005, he left a gap which required many people to fill.
These days, The Village Music Hour is a vital ingredient in the mix of entertainment offered to 4MBS listeners; and it's the popularity of the program which has been largely responsible for the development of 4MBS's unique, new service - Silver Memories.
